Othal Wallace arrested

The manhunt for Othal Wallace, 29, ended on Saturday morning when the Daytona Beach Police Department announced he had been captured just outside of Atlanta. The manhunt sprawled across multi-agencies.

Officer Staly took to Facebook in response to the arrest:

“This coward dirtbag was captured in Georgia near Atlanta hiding in a treehouse. He was well-armed including armored plating, flashbangs, guns and much more but law enforcement was able to capture him with no injuries to ANYONE! One of the most disgusting events during the search was his radical “friends” that think police are the problem when it’s really them and their radicalism set up a Go Fund Me page to help him and people were stupid enough to donate to it, like he was some hero for their cause. Disgusting! If anyone wants to help the real hero who is fighting for his life, Daytona Beach Officer Jason Raynor’s Go Fund Me page is: https://www.gofundme.com/…/daytona-beach-officer-jason…

According to Daytona Beach police chief, Wallace was located in a treehouse on a wooded area of a three-acre property outside of Atlanta. U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security agents, the FBI, and several police stations all executed the warrant to search the property at 2:30 am on Saturday morning. Within the treehouse were two rifles, two handguns, and several other weapons. Weapons were also found in main structures throughout the property.

For the arrest, four Daytona Beach officers used Officer Raynor’s handcuff’s to arrest Wallace.

“He made a statement: ‘You guys know who I am. You know what I am capable of. it could’ve been a lot worse.’” Chief Jakari Young said after Wallace’s capture.

Wallace is facing attempted first-degree murder charges in Daytona Beach.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office offered a $100,000 reward for information about Wallace’s location, which was upped to $200,000 on Friday.

Just hours after the shooting, police had found firearms, a semi-automatic handgun, and boxes of rounds in Wallace’s family house.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Raynor in his recovery.

Officer Raynor is showing some improvement, after undergoing emergency surgery at Halifax Hospital but still has a long way to go, police said.

“I have the permission of his mother and sister to let everyone know they greatly appreciate the support they received and request we keep Officer Raynor in our prayers,” Chief Young said early Saturday.
