Breeze Airways is adding a new flight out of the Daytona Beach International Airport, the airline announced this week. Beginning on September 3rd, Breeze will be flying to the Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The new offering will be the fifth route for Breeze Airways out of Daytona Beach, adding onto their existing four routes established since they began their local operations in November. The low-cost airline operates on a similar business model to Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines, offering reduced ticket fares in exchange for somewhat reduced amenities.

Once they’re up and running, the Daytona-Akron flights will have fares starting at $49 subject to conditions and fees. This lowest base price applies to No Flex Fare, which offers the most affordable option to passengers but with only one personal item, and no changes to booking details.

“Breeze continues to grow from Daytona Beach, adding another non-stop route on Breeze’s convenient, premium product for our Florida guests,” said Breeze Airways Founder & CEO David Neeleman. “This new nonstop service will also bring more snowbirds to Daytona Beach this winter travel season.”

Breeze Airways was founded in 2018 by Michael Lazarus, Robert Milton, and David Neeleman under the Breeze Aviation Group. The company is based out of Cottonwood Heights, Utah. They presently have a fleet size of 52 with 66 destinations, utilizing the Airbus A220-300, Embraer 190, and Embraer 195.

Once their new route is activated, Breeze will be operating flights to the following five destinations:

  • Akron, Ohio
  • Hartford, Connecticut
  • Providence, Rhode Island
  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • White Plains, New York

On top of the Daytona Beach flights to Akron-Canton, Breeze Airways offers many other flights to the Ohio airport an hour south of Cleveland. Several of these flights are out of Florida, including airports such as Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Key West, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa Bay, and West Palm Beach.

“Breeze is strengthening its commitment to our community by introducing a fifth nonstop route—this time to a popular Midwestern destination, marking the first nonstop service to that region from Daytona Beach,” said Daytona Beach International Airport Director Karen Feaster. “Our community has embraced Breeze since they launched service here in November, and we’re excited about the continued growth and opportunities this ‘very nice’ airline brings.”
