The Flagler County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has announced it will be holding the WIN Phenomenal Women’s Event on Saturday, March 29th in Palm Coast. The event is being spearheaded by the Flagler County Branch Women in NAACP (WIN) to close out Women’s History Month. Things will kick off at 11:30 am at the African American Cultural Society (4422 US-1 N, Palm Coast, FL 32164) and end at 1:30 pm.
The event will feature a women’s empowerment speaker panel, with lunch provided. All who wish to attend are welcome, with business casual attire requested and a $25 admission ticket for entry. Tickets can be purchased with an online donation, by cash pickup, or via check addressed to the Flagler County Branch NAACP and mailed to P.O. Box 350713, Palm Coast, FL 32135.
“This year’s 2025 Phenomenal Women’s Annual Event is intended to be inclusive and not competitive, and is designed as a collaborative model to engage women across different agencies, businesses, faith based communities, and local governments,” the organization’s news release says. “We will recognize the achievements and contributions of women in our Flagler County Community who are helping Women and Youth to ‘Move Forward Together Through It All: via mentoring, coaching, advocacy, activism, and intergenerational educational opportunities that promote leadership, ownership, and influence’.”
The overarching Women in NAACP group (WIN) was founded in 1980 by Frances Dancy Hooks and Earleen Bolden in Memphis, Tennessee. By doing so they aimed to further the role of women in the ongoing push for civil rights, leading to a nationwide implementation. “Throughout our history, Black women have made an important contribution to the race,” Hooks once said. “As wives and mothers and teachers, we have accepted great responsibilities.”
