The Flagler Tiger Bay Club has announced the speakers for its May and June monthly luncheon meetings in a statement released last week. The May luncheon will feature Jesse Panuccio, while the June meeting will host Paul Peterson.
With the first Tiger Bay Club being founded in Miami in 1964, the organization is now made up of over a dozen branches across Florida. The Flagler Tiger Bay Club, like the original club, touts itself as a nonpartisan political club which fosters discussion about affairs both local and national and hosts informative events to engage residents with their civic processes.
The President of the Flagler Tiger Bay Club as of now is Jay Scherr, whose term expires in August. He works alongside First Vice President Marc Dwyer, Second Vice President Joe Saviak, and twelve other members of the club’s board of directors.
May Speaker Jesse Panuccio
The next luncheon meeting for the Flagler Tiger Bay Club will be held on Wednesday, May 21st. It will feature Jesse Panuccio, the acting United States Associate Attorney General from February 2018 to May 2019 under the first administration of President Donald Trump. He also formerly served within Florida Governor Rick Scott’s administration, and is currently a partner at New York’s Boies Schiller Flexner law firm.
The topic of Panuccio’s speech is listed as ‘an analysis of recent presidential executive orders’. Since his inauguration in January President Trump has issued a litany of executive orders, many of which have been subject to litigation and debate over constitutional authority.
Among other things, Trump has placed tariffs on key U.S. trade partners, designated drug cartels as foreign terrorist groups, and aimed to reduce the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
“This presentation will offer a compelling analysis of recent presidential executive orders, examining their legal status, the constitutional questions they raise, and the challenges they face in the courts,” the Tiger Bay Club says. “It will also explore the broader implications for the separation of powers, the role of the judiciary, and the evolving scope of executive authority in today’s polarized political climate.”
June Speaker Paul Peterson
The following luncheon meeting for the Flagler Tiger Bay Club will be held on Wednesday, June 18th. The featured guest speaker will be Paul Peterson, the Regional Vice President at First Trust Portfolios. Prior to that role, Peterson was Vice President at Van Kampen Investments for eleven years plus VP and Regional VP at Invesco for fifteen years. He started with First Trust in 2014, per his LinkedIn profile. The topic of Peterson’s remarks is listed as ‘the 2025 economic outlook and how the new administration’s policies will impact the economy’. Peterson delivered a speech on a similar topic when he last visited the Flagler Tiger Bay Club in April 2024.
A poll commissioned by CBS News in March showed that 50% of Americans view the economy to grow or hold steady in 2026, while the other half see it slowing down or entering a recession. The half-and-half split of optimism and pessimism comes after the same YouGov pollsters tracked 56% of Americans as expecting a steady or growing economy in February.
Furthermore, the poll showed that over three-quarters of Americans believe their incomes aren’t keeping up with inflation, and the most important aspects of the rate economy are food and gas prices, the housing market, and interest rates. Only 30% of respondents said they feel secure in their retirement savings, and 57% making under $50k a year consider themselves to be in bad financial shape.
