Florida Gas Prices Sink Ahead of Holiday Traveling

Gas prices in Florida are the lowest they’ve been for the entirety of 2023, according to a new report issued by AAA. According to the statement, prepared by AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins, the statewide average cost of a gallon of gas is now down to $2.98.

“Oil and gasoline futures prices plummeted last week, after a weekly fuel report showed strong refinery activity, leading to big gains in gasoline supplies,” Jenkins said. “About 35% of Florida gas stations now have fuel below $3 a gallon. Nearly 10% of retailers have prices in the low $2.70s. While prices could bounce around in the coming weeks, drivers should expect pump prices to remain low through the holidays unless oil prices suddenly spike.”

The average cost of a gallon of gas in Daytona Beach is just a tick higher than the state average, currently sitting at $3.006 according to additional data from AAA. Both local and statewide figures are trending downward in recent months.

The cheapest option for gas for motorists both in Volusia and Flagler counties is Buc-ee’s on LPGA Blvd in Daytona, as it often is. Buc-ee’s sported $2.62 gas as of Monday afternoon, well below the average. Those who have memberships at Sam’s Club across the street are able to pump gas for the same cost.

Just realized the price of the gas in the picture. It would be great to have the price that low again. The last time it was around 2 29 a gallon was in 2006.

Well I jumped the gun by saying after the 1st. Yesterday gas jumped $.16 from 2.99 to 3.15. However if you hurry, I got gas today at the new Prime station on US-1 just south of the Old Dixie Hywy roundabout for (ready) $2.89 a gallon. Yippie.
