The Continuing Florida Aviation System Planning Process

The Continuing Florida Aviation System Planning Process (CFASPP) is a program within the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) created to create guidelines for the state’s aviation industry to meet demand. Each committee within the CFASPP, including Sieger’s Statewide Steering Committee, meets three times a year.

Sieger is set to serve as the CFASPP’s vice chair for a two-year term. In his new role, Sieger will be a part of the team that oversees updates to the Florida Aviation System Plan. This will address safety standards, sustainability, and troubleshooting for the industry across Florida. The Florida Aviation System Plan is developed as a whole by FDOT.

Reactions to Roy Sieger’s Appointment

“Mr. Sieger’s committee leadership and collaboration with other aviation professionals in the East Central Metro Area and throughout the state has been instrumental in promoting the continued advancement of Florida’s Aviation System,” said CFASPP Administrator Dan Afghani.

“Roy’s leadership has consistently elevated Flagler Executive Airport and brought recognition to our county,” added Flagler County Administrator Heidi Petito. “Being elected to vice chair of CFASPP is a testament to his dedication and vision, and we are proud to have him represent the county on this important statewide initiative.”

According to his personal resume, Roy Sieger has served as the Flagler Executive Airport Director since 2009. Prior to that he was airport manager at Marion County Airport in Dunnellon, Florida for four years. He also served two decades in the U.S. Marine Corps. Recent Happenings at the Flagler Executive Airport

A recent analysis was conducted at the Flagler Executive Airport for lead content, following complaints against the facility by Palm Coast residents in the surrounding few miles. The analysis, completed by an independent consultant, found that lead levels both in the air and soil were not problematic.

The Flagler Executive Airport is also in the midst of constructing a general aviation terminal. Long-planned but only started this year, the $11.2 million project will expand the airport’s capacity to receive more visitors in the future. Only $620,000 is being paid for locally, with the remaining funding coming from state government grants.
