50-year-old Bret Tucker was arrested by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday after allegedly fleeing from a weapons disturbance situation, according to a statement released by the FCSO. Tucker spent two days in jail on two felony charges and one misdemeanor per public data on his arrest.
In the description of the incident from the FCSO, the agency received a call that a man was threatening multiple people with a handgun. He was said to have been telling them to call the police and report a dead body to them. Thankfully, no bodies were involved in the encounter.
Deputies were dispatched to the site of the incident in Bunnell. In the time between their departure and arrival the suspect, identified as Bret Tucker, is said to have fled the scene in his pickup truck. A subsequent search began to locate Tucker, eventually turning him up with his truck at a residence on CR-135. He’s said to have run inside the home when deputies arrived.
After entering the home, Tucker is said to have rebuffed attempts to coax him back outside. Deputies formed a perimeter around the home, the report says, and brought in the FCSO Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit (a typically acronymized term for ‘drone pilots’). With the addition of a public address system to command Tucker to exit, he’s eventually said to have complied.
Once he exited the residence, Tucker was placed under arrest. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse without great bodily harm, and domestic battery. His bond was set at $27,500, which he posted on Tuesday. Tucker has no prior criminal bookings in Flagler County according to the county jail’s online records.
“No argument should ever resort to violence or a threat of violence, especially with a weapon,” commented Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly. “Our deputies did an outstanding job to quickly de-escalate the situation and safely take him into custody.”
