Flagler residents will now have the option to opt in to text messages regarding COVID-19 vaccines and testing, Flagler County announced Wednesday. Doses of the groundbreaking Moderna vaccine first reached Flagler on Tuesday. The local health department is working with providers to begin distribution immediately.
According to the Florida Department of Health in Flagler County, the first round of vaccinations will go to paramedics, nurses, and health department staff. “We are happy to share that paramedics, nurses and health department staff will receive their first doses of Moderna vaccine tomorrow,” says Heath Officer Robert Snyder. “We will start vaccinating other priority groups as additional vaccines are provided.” Per an executive order by Governor Ron DeSantis, the next priority group will be those over the age of 65.
According to the Center for Disease Control, the vaccine is designated for recipients age 18 and older, and is administered in two doses 28 days apart. As life-saving vaccinations begin, Flagler County will be providing updates via text message to any who subscribe. To sign up, simply text FLAGLERCOVID to 888-777.
