Palm Coast-based band Home is Where released their newest single on Tuesday, titled “Migration Patterns”. The track is Home is Where’s first piece of new music since the band released their sophomore album ‘The Whaler’ in June 2023.
Faithful fans of Home is Where are treated to their first taste of the band’s upcoming third album ‘Hunting Season’, for which this track will act as the lead single. The song was produced by Jack Shirley, according to the listed credits on Spotify. Building off two critically-acclaimed albums since 2021, ‘Hunting Season’ is slated for release on May 23rd.
The song opens in Home is Where’s signature folk-influenced style, with a harmonica and steel guitar accompanying a heavy drum and guitar. Singer Bea MacDonald leads the instrumentation from verse to chanting chorus with her trademark emotive rasp.

Serving as the track’s lifeblood is Tilley Komorny, the band’s lead guitarist. With tone and bite reminiscent of Lucy Dacus’ heavier entries, Komorny’s stylings oscillate meaningfully between the melodic and the intense. Filling out the lineup with stellar performances are the group’s rhythm section: drummer Josiah Gardella and bassist Connor ‘Fat Slaps’ O’Brien.
Though they’ve been locally-known for garage and small festival performances since well before the pandemic, Home is Where rose to national prominence in 2021 when their debut album ‘I Became Birds’ was a surprise hit within the emo music community. Breaking out of a niche scene, the group was reviewed by Pitchfork and covered with acclaim by publications like Billboard, Stereogum, and The Washington Post. In October 2024, Pitchfork even called their single “Long Distance Conjoined Twins” the 70th best song released so far in the 2020’s decade.
