Cold Weather Shelters Opening in Flagler, Volusia Counties

Temperatures in Flagler and Volusia counties are set to drop considerably Monday night. The forecast low temperatures in the area reach down into the 30s overnight, with wind gusts threatening to make the air feel below freezing. As such, a series of cold weather shelters are opening between the two counties.

Flagler County

One shelter is slated to open in Flagler County on Monday. The Sheltering Tree is operating their services in Bunnell this week, at the Rock Transformation Center (formerly known as Church on the Rock).

The Rock Transformation Center is located at 2200 N. State Street in Bunnell. The shelter opens at 5:00 pm and closes at 8:00 am the next day. The Sheltering Tree can be contacted by calling (386) 437-3258. Those in need of transportation to the shelter will be provided with multiple options for county bus services.

Volusia County

Residents of Volusia County will be able to shelter at The Bridge in DeLand. Located at 421 S. Palmetto Ave, the shelter is already confirmed to be open on both Monday and Tuesday. Doors will open to those in need of shelter at 6:30 pm, and will close the following morning at 8:00 am.

Breakfast will be served to those sheltering, and supplies such as food, water, and bedding are available. The Neighborhood Center can be reached at (386) 734-8120, ext. 601.
