Two arrests were made at the Red Roof Inn in Palm Coast this week including one of a wanted fugitive, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday. 35-year-old Damian Cacchio-Burton and 45-yera-old Iris Grant are both in custody on a variety of charges.

An arrest warrant was served by the FCSO Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit (PACE) along with the U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday at the Red Roof Inn, where the two suspects were believed to be staying. Here, law enforcement apprehended and arrested Cacchio-Burton and Grant, residents of Pompano Beach and Melbourne respectively.

Cacchio-Burton, according to the FCSO, had active warrants from Palm Beach County for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle, along with multiple probation violation warrants in Broward County. A search of Cacchio-Burton’s person reportedly turned up multiple bags of illegal drugs.

A subsequent search of the hotel room reportedly led to the discovery of several more illegal substances. Deputies are said to have found methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription drugs, glass pipes, needles, and nitrous oxide canisters.

The FCSO brought in Cacchio-Burton on the aforementioned arrest warrants from Palm Beach and Broward counties, plus charges of possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone, amphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, plus resisting an officer without violence. He’s being held at the county jail on no bond.

Grant, meanwhile, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia, ingestion or possession of harmful chemical substances, and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. She was also booked into the county jail and was released after posting her $13,500 bond.

“This fugitive thought that he and his friend could come to Flagler County to hide out in a hotel room and do drugs, but he learned like so many others before that was a mistake,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Working with our law enforcement partners, we tracked them down and sent them both to [jail]. I commend our PACE Unit and thank our partners at the U.S. Marshals Service for their outstanding work to locate and apprehend this fugitive and his partner.”
