Flagler County Administrator Heidi Petito is appointing Percy Sayles to the role of deputy county administrator following the sudden and tragic death of Jorge Salinas earlier this month. Salinas, who was killed along with his wife and an unrelated motorcyclist in a vehicle accident on I-4, had been deputy county administrator since 2020.
“It is truly an honor to be entrusted with this role,” Sayles said. “I look forward to supporting our talented team, building on the foundation Jorge helped create, and continuing our commitment to excellence and service to the residents of Flagler County.”
Percy Sayles has served as Deputy Chief of Flagler County Fire Rescue since late 2021. Prior to his career with Flagler County he worked for the City of Tamarac in Florida as fire chief, and served a stint as interim city manager. On the educational side, Sayles has earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Nova Southeastern University, and an Associate’s Degree in both Emergency Medical Service and Nursing from Broward College.
“I am excited and honored to have Percy join Administration,” added County Administrator Heidi Petito. “While we all continue to miss Jorge, Percy was someone he held in high regard. It is fitting that he will help carry on the important work we have started together as we continue to move our organization and community forward.”
