The Palm Coast Fire Department has appointed David Faust to the role of battalion chief of training, the city government announced on Tuesday. Faust previously served as battalion chief.

As he transitions into his new job with the PCFD, Faust will be responsible for ‘efforts to recruit, train, and develop both current and future members of the organization,’ according to the city’s release. He’ll oversee training and education across the PCFD, help prepare employees to one day take on leadership positions, and uphold the professional standards of the Fire Department.

“Chief Faust brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership to this role,” said Palm Coast Fire Chief Kyle Berryhill. “His commitment to training and professional development will ensure our firefighters have the tools and knowledge to meet the needs of our growing community both today and into the future.”

Faust has been with the PCFD for almost two decades, having first begun with the department in 2006. He started out as a volunteer firefighter, eventually obtaining the title of career firefighter in 2008.

While working Faust obtained certifications as a firefighter, EMT, and paramedic from First Coast Technical College. He then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Flagler College and a Master’s Degree from Barry University. Faust’s hard work paid off with subsequent promotions: he was made a driver engineer in 2016, a lieutenant in 2017, and finally a battalion chief in 2022. Most recently, in December 2023 he became an executive fire officer with a designation from the National Fire Academy.
