Palm Coast Parkway, Nearby Streets to be Resurfaced

A major resurfacing project is set to begin in Palm Coast this year. Palm Coast Parkway, one of the busiest roads in the city, will be worked on for approximately four months.

The project will also include resurfacing work on some of the area’s surrounding roads. These include Bridgehaven Drive, Corporate Drive, Pinecone Drive, Diandra Throughway, Harbor Center Way, Florida Park Drive, Clubhouse Drive, Colbert Lane, and Fairways Circle.

Virtually all of the resurfacing work will be done at night in an effort to minimize the potential inconvenience to drivers. This will fall in a window from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The target start date for the project is sometime in May, a city spokesperson said Monday.

There will be temporary lane closures, reduced speeds, and traffic delays while work is going on, the city says. All homes and businesses along the affected roadways will remain accessible.

The Palm Coast City Council green-lit the resurfacing project at their business meeting on February 3. The approved contract is with Halifax Paving, an Ormond Beach-based company. The scope of the project will span from Palm Coast Parkway’s intersection with US-1 on the western end all the way to the Hammock Dunes Toll Bridge in the east.

In order to fund the resurfacing, $6.56 million comes from Palm Coast’s street improvement fund. A statement from the city’s spokesperson called the initiative “a long-term investment in Palm Coast’s infrastructure”. The city is hoping that the resurfacing will make the roads smoother and safer.

“The project includes milling 1.5 inches of existing asphalt and resurfacing with 1.5 inches of new asphalt, roadway base repairs where needed, updated pavement markings, and adjustments to water valves and manholes,” the city said in their statement.
