For the first time in almost seven years, JetBlue will be running flights in and out of Daytona Beach International Airport. The airline announced on Thursday that it would be adding Daytona along with a series of other destinations in Florida, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands.
Starting on December 4th, JetBlue will be conducting flights to and from Massachusetts’ Boston Logan International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport once each day. The routes will be active year-round, with introductory fares starting at $59. Flights can be booked one-way, with blackout dates from December 18th to January 5th. Tickets have already gone on sale.
“This is a huge win for Volusia County and beyond to secure nonstop flights to our number one destination, New York City, and our number 5 destination, Boston,” said Daytona Airport Director Karen Feaster. “The last several years have been very positive, with continuous increases in passenger traffic, and the addition of two other new airlines. The addition of JetBlue brings the total number of commercial carriers serving our area to five, with 11 nonstop destinations and endless opportunities to anywhere with easy one-stop connections.”
The flights connecting Daytona Beach to Boston and New York City aren’t the only additions to JetBlue’s Florida service. The airline is also adding flights to the same two airports from Vero Beach, to Islip, New York and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from Tampa, to Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic from Fort Lauderdale, and to Islip from Fort Myers.
“Florida continues to be a place JetBlue’s unique combination of low fares and great service resonates, and we’re proud to grow our footprint with these new destinations to meet customer demand for more of the Sunshine State,” said JetBlue VP of Network Planning & Airline Partnerships Dave Jehn. “Whether it’s customers in the Northeast looking for a warm getaway or Floridians traveling north, we’re excited to bring more choices and better service to these markets.”
