The Flagler County government is adding Tywan Arrington as its new economic development manager, the county announced last week. Arrington will pick up the mantle from Dolores Key, who is retiring following a five-year stint in the position.

Arrington is coming to Flagler County from his previous role as director of business development for the Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation. He worked there from February 2022 until this month, according to his own LinkedIn profile. Outside of work, Arrington is listed on the board of directors for United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.

“We’re pleased to welcome Mr. Arrington to Flagler County,” said Flagler Tourism Development Director Amy Lukasik. “He has been instrumental in his previous position in Volusia County, and we look forward to seeing him bring that same success to Flagler.”

Arrington’s career path began in 2014 when he founded 9 Economics, LLC in Mississippi. A major step upward came in 2016 when he became director of special projects and program compliance for the Federation of Southern Cooperatives, based out of Atlanta. Arrington also served as a graduate assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi and as a dormitory academic coordinator at St. Stanislaus College, also in Mississippi.

Prior to his professional endeavors, Arrington earned a master’s degree in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi. Before that, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Alcorn State University in 2001. He’s in the process of obtaining his designation as a certified economic developer from the International Economic Development Council.
