Daytona State College will be expanding its training certification programs at its northernmost campus, the school announced this month. Starting in January 2026, DSC’s Flagler/Palm Coast campus will be offering the full Emergency Medical Technician Certificate program. This is a prerequisite for those enrolling in the school’s paramedic program.
Those participating in the program will take one semester to complete it. According to a statement from Daytona State College, the program ‘provides comprehensive training in recognizing the symptoms of illnesses and injuries’, as well as ‘the application and proper procedures essential in delivering basic life support to the sick and injured’.
“The demand for EMTs continues to grow in Flagler and Volusia counties,” said Evan Doyle, the director of the Charles M. Curb School of Emergency Services. “As we transition our first responder programs to the new Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Training Center on the DeLand Campus, we remain committed to ensuring easy accessibility for students and meeting the workforce needs of our agency partners throughout the region.”
The training will include 90 hours of clinical experience working with pre-hospital care agencies and within hospital emergency room environments. Those who graduate will, according to DSC, have a quick and promising path to high-demand careers in the emergency medical field. This may include hospitals, programming, industrial medicine, and more.
Those interested in applying can find more information at Daytona State College’s website.
