A professional home cleaner from Bunnell has been arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry and other items from the homes of her clients, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday. 38-year-old Kayla Conner is accused of pawning several valuables that she took with her when she left.
Conner worked for Alicia’s Cleaning Service. In August one client reported that they’d had several items stolen, including jewelry, a driver’s license, and bank cards per the FCSO. He told law enforcement that he discovered these items to be missing shortly after Conner had come to his home for a cleaning.
Soon thereafter, a second victim reported a theft to the FCSO. They told detectives that they’d had multiple pieces of jewelry stolen over a similar time frame to when the first victim was hit. FCSO detectives, who’d begun their investigation after the first report, concluded that it was Conner who’d worked at both homes before the thefts occurred.
After the alleged thefts, Conner is said to have taken the items to local pawn shops and pawned them. Both of the victims whose homes were serviced by Conner reported saying that she was a new employee of Alicia’s Cleaning Service.
Conner was arrested on Tuesday and charged with grand theft from a dwelling over $40, false verification of ownership to a secondhand dealer under $300, grand theft from a dwelling over $100, dealing in stolen property, grand theft from a person over 65 years old over $300, and violation of probation. She’s still being held at the county jail on no bond as of Friday.
“Residents hire cleaning services to help make their homes cleaner, not to have their valuables stolen,” said Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thanks to the quick work of our detectives, this thief is now behind bars where she belongs. We will continue working to return stolen property to the rightful owners. When you hire a cleaning company, verify they conduct background checks on their employees and have insurance.”
Conner has one prior arrest booking on file in Flagler County. On April 3rd, 2025 she was charged with grand theft over $5,000 and obstruction without violence. She remained in jail for two days on those charges. Records show Conner resides on Cherry Lane in Bunnell.
