Gas prices across the state of Florida are trending downward in recent days, according to data released this week by AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins. The report marked ten consecutive days of decreasing prices, which Jenkins says coincides with the beginning of summer travel season.

“The summer travel season is beginning with gasoline prices that are 20 cents less than the highest price this year,” Jenkins said in the report. “While gasoline prices are usually volatile through the summer months, recent futures prices suggest the state average could move lower this week.”

The average price of a gallon of gas in Florida as of Tuesday is $3.41, down from $3.50 a week ago. One month ago the number was even higher at $3.62, whereas one year ago it was a bit lower at $3.36. The national average price as of Tuesday is $3.51, a dime above Florida’s mark.

Locally, Flagler County’s average sits a good bit above the state number at $3.52. Volusia County to the south is significantly cheaper at $3.40. According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Palm Coast as of Tuesday is the city’s three RaceTrac stations at $3.45, plus the Amoco on SR-100 at the same price. The A.L. Prime Energy station on US-1 in Bunnell is at $3.39 per the same data.

In Volusia County one of the best deals around continues to be the Buc-ee’s off I-95 on LPGA Blvd, which is priced at $3.29 on Tuesday per GasBuddy. The exclusive Sam’s Club across the street is at $3.19 for members, as is the new Costco location in Daytona and the BJ’s in Port Orange. Most of Volusia County’s gas prices as of Tuesday are somewhere between $3.30 and $3.40.
