Rob Wood, a 15-year Flagler County resident, filed Friday to run for the District 2 seat on the Flagler County School Board, setting up a challenge against incumbent Will Furry.
Wood serves as senior manager of program faculty at Western Governors University’s School of Business. In a press release, he described himself as a “conservative voice on fiscal discipline and accountable governance.”
Wood said his campaign will focus on student outcomes, classroom support for educators and preparing graduates for college, a trade, the military or a career.
“I want this seat focused on what matters most: the students in our classrooms, the educators who serve them and the outcomes of their shared effort,” Wood said. “Parents in Flagler want their kids reading on grade level, their teachers supported and their schools safe. They want a board focused on results, not on theater. That’s where my focus will be.”
Wood spent 11 years in the Air Force, leaving as a technical sergeant. His wife, Stacy, taught in Flagler County schools for more than eight years and now works as a manager of program faculty at WGU’s School of Education.
Wood also owns an exterior cleaning company and serves as president of BNI Prestige Partners, a chapter of 58 local business owners. He attends Redemption City Church in Daytona Beach.
