The City of Flagler Beach celebrated New Year’s Eve with its newest annual tradition: dropping a surfboard in Veterans Park and lighting off fireworks from the nearby pier. Hundreds gathered to spend the last moments of 2024 – and first of 2025 – on the beach, enjoying the company of the community and taking in a spectacular firework show.

The New Year’s Eve event will be the last one with fireworks launched from the existing pier, with its demolition and rebuild scheduled to being in the coming months. My Three Sons sanctioned the firework show, drawing the awe and celebration of all in attendance. City Commissioner Eric Cooley and City Manager Dale Martin assisted the Fire Department in lowering the surfboard, officially ushering in a new year for Flagler Beach.
