Jacksonville Couple Arrested in Flagler County for Car Theft

PALM COAST – Right around the time the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was preparing a community advisory on locking cars to prevent break-ins, a couple from Jacksonville were arrested for having reportedly stolen a vehicle in Palm Coast. Suspects Nathan Ellison and Veronica Brady are accused of stealing the car overnight.

The incident began when a Palm Coast resident called the FCSO to report her vehicle stolen when she got up in the morning. Deputies worked with the FCSO’s Real Time Crime Center identify a last known location of the vehicle, and locate it near Palm Coast Parkway and Boulder Rock Drive. The drivers reportedly then fled, but were thwarted by an already established police perimeter.

The vehicle, an SUV, then drove over stop sticks deployed by a deputy to flatten at least some of its tires and drove into the parking lot of a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts. It stopped at Palm Coast Parkway SW and Cypress Point Parkway and the driver then reportedly began fleeing on foot. He was apprehended shortly thereafter. Deputies said they discovered multiple lawn care tools that had also been reported stolen from Palm Coast’s L Section.

Ellison, the car’s driver, was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, and resisting arrest without violence. Brady, the passenger, was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools with intent. The couple’s arrest records in Jacksonville include burglary, theft, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon among other offenses.

“Another fugitive and poison peddler couple made the mistake of coming to Flagler County to commit crimes,” said Sheriff Rick Staly, referring to prior drug charges. “This is another success story for our Realtime Crime Center using the technology we have implemented along with great teamwork by everyone involved quickly putting a stop to these dirtbags crime spree. They learned the hard way, like many others before them, to not come to Flagler County. Hopefully all of the charges they racked up in Flagler will keep them from ever coming back here again and will send them away to state prison.”
