The Flagler Tiger Bay Club is hosting former Florida Senate President Bill Galvano at its June 17 luncheon in Palm Coast, the organization announced on Tuesday. Galvano will be delivering a presentation titled “25 Years of Policy, Growth, and Results: What Florida Got Right and What Comes Next”.
The luncheon takes place on Wednesday, June 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hammock Dunes Club. Event tickets are $45 for Flagler Tiger Bay Club members and $50 for non-members.
Bill Galvano served two stints in the Florida legislature spanning 2002 to 2020. He was first elected to represent the 68th district in the Florida House of Representatives, a seat he held until 2010. In 2012 he was elected to the Florida Senate representing the 26th and later 21st districts. He was Florida Senate Majority Leader from 2014 to 2016, and President from 2018 to 2020.
A Republican, Galvano primarily represented the Bradenton and Sarasota area. He was instrumental in Florida’s response to the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, working alongside then-Governor Rick Scott to pass tighter regulations on firearms.
Since term limits prevented him from seeking another term in the legislature after 2020, Galvano has not campaigned for any other public office. Several of his re-election campaigns in both chambers of the Florida legislature drew no major general election opponent.
Post-retirement, Galvano has run the Grimes Gavano, PL law firm. With over 30 years of experience as an attorney, Galvano specializes in civil and commercial litigation. He also organizes the Annual Phil Galvano Golf Classic, a tournament which raises money for public schools.
