The primary election for Florida’s 6th congressional district was held on Tuesday. Voters chose the Democratic and Republican nominees for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Eric Yonce won the Democratic primary, while incumbent Randy Fine prevailed in the Republican race.

Florida’s 6th congressional district is made up of the entirety of Flagler and Putnam counties, plus portions of Lake, Marion, St. Johns, and Volusia counties. The district has a population of over 830,000, and has voted solidly Republican in every election dating back to 2016.

Randy Fine won the seat in a special election last year, being chosen to fill out the remainder of former Rep. Michael Waltz’s seat. Waltz was appointed to the administration of President Donald Trump, with Fine being handpicked as Trump’s preferred successor.

This year, Fine won a GOP primary with 56.9% against multiple challengers. The second most votes came from Tampa-based influencer Dan Bilzerian. Next was 2025 candidate Aaron Baker, followed by Palm Coast City Councilman Charles Gambaro.

Yonce won his race with a 32.1% plurality, defeating runner-up Ronnie Murchinson-Rivera and his 26.9% showing. Steve Morgan and Robert Cooper II placed third and fourth respectively.

Can Eric Yonce Flip FL-6?

“I feel good about it and ready to take the fight to Randy Fine,” Yonce said on Tuesday. “I really feel that there’s a lot of the population that’s tired of the division, tired of the hatred and wants a representative who actually stands for doing things for the community rather than pushing than more division.”

Yonce’s efforts to flip Florida’s 6th congressional district blue present a tall task, but progress may have already been made. In the 2025 special election that landed Fine in office, Democrat Josh Weil far outraised Fine and scored 42.7% of the vote. Though he lost by over 27,000 votes, Weil had the strongest showing by a Democrat in the 21st century.

Fine vs. Bilzerian

Despite being involved in a series of controversies including recently leafing through a resident’s mailbox, Fine coasted on the renewed endorsement of President Trump to a commanding victory. In the later days of the campaign Fine referred Bilzerian to the FBI over alleged foreign election collusion.

“The people have spoken loud and clear. They do not want a lying Nazi in Congress trying to destroy Florida or derail President Trump’s agenda,” Fine said, referring to Bilzerian’s controversial past remarks about Jewish people. “Thank you to everyone who put their trust in me and helped us secure a massive 38-point victory last night.”

“I feel like Randy Fine is the absolute worst member of Congress,” Bilzerian said during his campaign. “I think that working in government should not be something that advances your career. I don’t think it’s something that people should be looking forward to, I think it’s something that people should be doing to try and fix the country. I don’t see any politicians operating with that mindset.”

U.S. House of Representatives, Florida’s 6th District (Democratic Primary):

  • Robert Cooper II – 17.7% – 7,407
  • Steve Morgan – 23.3% – 9,758
  • Ronnie Murchinson-Rivera – 26.9% – 11,256
  • Eric Yonce – 32.1% – 13,461 – ADVANCES TO GENERAL

U.S. House of Representatives, Florida’s 6th District (Republican Primary):

  • Manuel Asensio – 1.2% – 1,075
  • Aaron Baker – 13.5% – 12,070
  • Dan Bilzerian – 18.7% – 16,773
  • Randy Fine – 56.9% – 51,076 – ADVANCES TO GENERAL
  • Charles Gambaro – 9.7% – 8,713
