Brian Pirraglia, the man convicted of selling fentanyl to a man who’d later die from taking it, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was sentenced by Judge Dawn Nichols at the conclusion of a three-day trail, in which he was convicted of first-degree murder by the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

The 42-year-old Pirraglia was a resident of the F Section in Palm Coast when the incident occurred. According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, who conducted a two-year investigation into the victim’s death, Pirraglia was said to have sold them drugs laced with fentanyl.

On February 8th, 2022, the day the death occurred, Pirraglia told first responders at the home that the victim was possibly having a seizure. A later autopsy concluded the victim died from fentanyl toxicity, and it was asserted at trial that Pirraglia administered this fentanyl via injection into the victim’s body.

Pirraglia’s arrest history in Flagler County is extensive. Dating back to 2014, he’s been charged with shoplifting, driving with a suspended license, fentanyl possession, obstruction evidence tampering, and contempt of court. His arrest on May 10th of this year was his eleventh and seemingly final time being booked into the county jail.

“Thanks to our incredibly hard-working team, especially Detective Gossett, and our partners at the State Attorney’s Office who prosecuted this case, Brian Pirraglia will spend the rest of his life sitting in state prison and thinking about the consequences of his actions,” said Flagler Sheriff Staly. “We will continue to use every means possible to hold drug dealers accountable if they kill someone with their poison. If you are a poison peddler and sell a fatal dose in Flagler County, we are coming for you next.”
