Well, isn’t this a wonderful family oriented event? While there, if you’re a neighbor of this flight school airport, track down Roy Sieger, airport manager and ask him about the ongoing issue with lead particles from propeller driven flight school planes polluting the air with lead. This lead, (remember Flint, Mi.)falls daily in large amounts as these flight school planes fly non stop touch and go take offs and non landing 24/7. These particles don’t dissipate as they drop in our yards. They effect the health of young children especially but adults too. The lead results in neurological damage which results in lower IQs in young people. The science is established. Google Reid Hillview airport near San Jose,Ca for a thorough explanation. Ask why Roy Sieger has done NOTHING to address this issue. Think, why did long ago leaded fuel get outlawed in passenger cars. Think of the Flight school industry, hi- Embry Riddle and Phoenix East Aviation among others. Do a little digging.

it’s a cool issue until you realize every single airport in america has the same issue. every airplane uses leaded fuel. why is it a roy seiger’s issue? if you were roy, how would you address it? maybe we should instead ask developers or policy makers why construct residential/commercial property so close to airports with an issue that’s been known since ww2.

Joe, the issue was dealt with in all the cars you’ve driven in since the early 70s. That’s quite a few cars wouldn’t you say? That said, there is unleaded fuel for prop planes and in use nationwide. The airport I mentioned in my comment referred to Reid Hillview airport Near San Jose outlawed leaded aviation fuel. LOTS of airports nationwide have done the same. Our airport is one who happily drags their feet and remains a polluting dinosaur that lives in the past. The flight school planes that use our airport come from Daytona, (Embry riddle, Phoenix East Aviation. 85-90% come from Daytona. Roy happily encouraging them to come HERE instead of Daytona, Deland, Ormond Beach,Spruce Creek, Palatka, St Augustine. The science establishing lead particles as a heavy metal resulting in environmental damage and especially harmful to children. Remember Flint,Mi water issues, remember leaded paint, leaded gas in cars. The EPA, FAA and creeps like Roy seiger keep ignoring the issue and delay doing anything about it. The flight school industry is the largest remaining polluter in the face of established science. Greed is the driving force in this aviation industry. I wouldn’t be surprised if Roy gets nice things under the table for rolling out the red carpet to the flight school industry. Our Gov’t and spineless jellyfish like Roy need to get off their asses and do the right thing.
