Incumbent County Commissioner Joe Mullins has been defeated in his effort to win re-election by challenger Leann Pennington. Mullins has acknowledged Pennington’s win. Pennington will go on to face NPA candidate Jane Gentile-Youd in the November election.

“Voters have spoken and time to move forward,” Mullins said. “It has been an honor serving this country and I’m ready for the next chapter in life and what God has in store.”

Mullins made himself one of Flagler County’s all-time most controversial politicians, speaking freely in criticism of his opponents and of community members, at times venturing into the antagonistic. Mullins frequently criticized local liberal political leaders and news outlets for their responses and coverage with such incidents.

The Flagler County Commission will elect its only woman in November, whether it’s Pennington or Gentile-Youd. Both Mullins and Pennington were registered as Republican candidates, while Gentile-Youd was an NPA.

Pennington beat Mullins easily, scoring 68.82% with 11,301 votes. Mullins scored only 31.18%, good for 5,120 votes.

“I want to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful residents of Flagler County,” Pennington said. “Over the past several months, I have been blessed to meet caring people who share my desire to protect Flagler’s quality of life, and stepped up to volunteer with my campaign to ensure that we have good representation on the County Commission.

“Last night’s win shows us all that grassroots campaigns, filled with good people, wanting great things for their community, are alive and winning in Flagler County. Onward to November!”

From his first meeting at Haw Creek, bad mouthing Nate McLaughlin, I saw his true character or rather lack of.  He has pretended to be a good guy, but only profiting and saddling up with others in this community who also profit from those struggling…  They will too be revealed as they are.  I hope he packs up and heads to Georgia to rectify his wrong doings there. He thinks he is superior to us here in District 4, but he is far from it.  Taking credit too for things he walked into also really annoyed us.  Then thinking himself above the law… typical politician, and we the people here need someone with a good and righteous heart.. I have never met Leann Pennington, but fought for her daily from my piece of the earth, having a gut feeling she is exactly what we need and deserve here…  I look forward to working with her in the Westside of Flagler County making a difference. as he and his do not play well with others because they are not who they want us to think they are, and always defensive because they are hiding from something they are afraid will be revealed.  “All will be revealed”.
In a meeting at the EOC, he made a promise they were not planning on developing the Westside, when that is exactly what he intended to do.
Now, as for JGYoud, she attended an event here when running a few years ago, and was so off putting to those who attended, her running led to defeat, which she seems to have forgotten that District 4 saw through her as well, reminding us of a nancy pillosi kinda gal…  I tried to tell her a month ago, to save her money and enjoy her senior years, but she was so defensive, did not want to listen, accused me of being a liberal, and just as jmull blocked me on Facebook…  I think she forgot that we have also been fb friends since she came out here, but had no clue who I am.   She also came to the ground breaking, and was in jm’s camp there, and not even spoke to the people of Daytona North/Mondex, quite hauty tauty, and literally like jm thinks she is better than  Daytona North Residents.  We chose someone who does not give off the air of superiority.  Someone who says she respects the farmland here. Someone who was able to defeat a goliath…

Pamla Andrews – you have not read my platform. You did not see me trying to calm down the man yelling at Joe and disrupting the event. Your insults are very vicious and unfounded. I care very much about the west and you forget I tried to stop the county from wasting YOUR tax money and buying the barn for a fire station which as you know is being used as a storage facility for county trucks. My husband and I drive out west all the time and would be glad to meet with you in person. I am far from superior. We live paycheck to paycheck.

That’s a concern also then. If you are paycheck to paycheck without finding a solution, how do you intend to responsibility handle a much larger budget on behalf of this county?

I’m not trying to kick while you’re down, but that’s a legitimate concern. Most people get to where they are in life from the choices they make – good and bad. Paycheck to paycheck isn’t a bragging point. If you can’t lead yourself out of it, how are you going to help the county?

This was not only a win for all of Flagler County, it was a solid repudiation of the false, vicious lies by the Tallahassee PACs trying desperately to save Lyimg Joe’s job. They were sent packing!

Let’s not forget Mullins participation in the January 6th insurrection.

At the end of the day, we are all Americans, it is time to put partisan politics to the side and simply do what is right for your constituents without a personal agenda.

Why is that so hard for some folks to understand?

I voted my conscious after my wife and I researched the candidates, and we will support them so long as they do not overreach into simple bickering and unproductive personal attacks.

Some difficult times are coming at us hard and fast from around the globe, if we do not come together and face up to our obligations, we will no longer recognize the land that our fathers, brothers, and sisters gave the highest price for us to have.

White, black, Asian, gay, straight, Christian, muslim, and a million other should be second to American. And if you are a new American legal citizen, leave your BS where you came from, we are a free nation with a Constitutional authority, not a banana republic as the Joe Mullins, and Ed Danko’s of the world would make us for their own benefit.

Dan you wrote your article beautifully. Pamela your article was also well written. Leann will be an asset to all in Flagler County. You are correct about Jane Youd. She should Concede to Leann. Voting for Jane would be like voting for Corrupt Joe Mullins. Jane does not have a chance in Flagler County running against Leann.

Thank goodness Joe is out. Now next time he breaks the law he can not try to use the excuse “I run the county”.
Go back to Ga. Joe and clean up the deplorable living conditions on your rental properties. Oh and wash the Ferreri before you give it back or they repo it.

Forgot to ask. When will Joe no longer be able to take part in any county business?
