Bunnell resident Jermaine Williams has been convicted of first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of his wife almost two years ago. On August 2, 2024, Williams was said to have stabbed his wife 19 to 20 times outside of their home.

The sentencing came at the conclusion of a two-day trial. Prosecutors this week will be making the case that Williams should receive the death penalty. If the same jury that convicted him sentences him to death, Williams would be the first Flagler County resident to get capital punishment since 2009.

“This was a brutal and vicious murder,” said State Attorney R.J. Larizza. “We move on to the sentencing phase where we will be seeking the death penalty.”

Williams was arrested in 2024 following a violent domestic dispute at he and his wife’s residence near the intersection of South Pine Street and MLK Avenue in Bunnell. During the incident Williams’ father was said to have pointed a gun at him until he stopped. The victim’s 14-year-old son was also present and reportedly attempted to intervene.

According to investigators, Williams admitted to getting a kitchen knife from inside their home. His wife apparently said something to him that “pushed him over the edge”. After the murder, he was heard saying “I’m tired of this s–t.”

Williams has prior arrests in 2022 for aggravated domestic battery, aggravated domestic assault, false imprisonment, and witness tampering.
