Flagler Cares, one of the county’s leading public service nonprofit agencies, is holding its quarterly ‘Help Night’ on Wednesday, October 16th per a new press release. The event will take place at the Flagler County Village Community Room, located at 160 Cypress Point Pkwy, Suite B304, in Palm Coast. It will run from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Held regularly by Flagler Cares’ organizers, Help Night strives to connect residents of the community with a variety of social services they might be in need of. The organization partners with a variety of local groups who are equipped to provide assistance across several life areas, from parenting to litigation to victim advocacy and more. The event will be free to attend for the public.
Participants
Among the groups participating in next month’s Help Night are Flagler County Human Services, the Early Learning Coalition, Easterseals, the Family Life Center, Florida Legal Services, and the Lions Club. Each brings a unique perspective and expertise for helping Flagler County residents in their times of need.
Flagler County Human Services is a division of the county government, which provides assistance to those struggling to make ends on housing costs. They offer help with past-due rent or utilities, first-month rent costs, and mortgage assistance for qualifying low-income residents. Beyond that, Human Services also helps with medical and dental resources and brokering services from state-mandated programs such as Medicaid, Healthy Kids, and Indigent Cremation.
The Early Learning Coalition of Flagler & Volusia is a nonprofit agency which strives to promote equal opportunity for quality care and education for children in their early school years. Their resources include supplemental material for classrooms, free screenings for hearing, vision, and development, childcare referrals, and connections to local careers in early education.
At over 100 years old, Easterseals is one of the nation’s longest-running disability advocacy nonprofits. They seek to provide resources for children, adults, seniors, veterans, and caregivers whose lives are impacted by disabilities. Their Northeast Central Florida regional office is located in Daytona Beach, and personnel are on-hand to assist those in need in Flagler County and the surrounding area.
The Family Life Center is one of the more well-known nonprofits serving Flagler County, though they cover Volusia County as well. The primary mission of the Life Center is to create an avenue for victims of domestic crisis to seek refuge and escape from abusive conditions. They provide accommodations for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, along with raising awareness of the warning signs of abuse and unhealthy relationships.
Florida Legal Services is a nonprofit impact litigation firm, providing those in need with access to legal resources they might not have been able to access otherwise. Among the services their organization provides are help enrolling in Medicaid and Florida KidCare and pro bono legal representation for people less able to access a quality lawyer on their own. They also advocate for individuals such as low-wage earners, separated immigrant children, domestic violence survivors, special needs children, vulnerable seniors, and migrant workers.
The Palm Coast Lions Club a local chapter of Lions Club International, a worldwide service organization founded in 1917. Their club sponsors programs in the community that provide any number of public benefits, such as scholarships, vision and hearing care, or educational opportunities. They have a location on Old Kings Road in Palm Coast, and meet twice a month.
