A deputy with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash on I-95 Tuesday, the agency announced. Deputy First Class Benjamin Stamps was admitted to the emergency room but is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident occurred on I-95 in St. Johns County when Stamps was on his way to a shift in Flagler County. According to the FCSO’s statement, Stamps was riding his agency-issued motorcycle when another vehicle improperly merged into his lane. Stamps attempted to evade the evade the vehicle, but he reportedly was still hit and came off of the bike.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash and handled the investigation, and so a FHP spokesman has been contacted for further information. Stamps was taken from the scene of the crash to the nearest suitable hospital: Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.

Glad the deputy is still alive. however making a full recovery we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully he will. It would have also been nice to read if any charges was given to the idiot who was driving the car that caused the accident.
