21-year-old Palm Coast resident Madeline Zinno has been charged with manslaughter in the fentanyl overdose death of a 43-year-old man in May of last year. Zinno has been in custody since June 20th, and is being charged in Volusia County. Records show her most recent residence was in Palm Coast’s P Section.

The death occurred on May 22nd, 2024 in DeBary when a man who law enforcement personnel say purchased fentanyl from Zinno fatally overdosed. The initial arrest of Zinno was part of an operation by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office referred to as ‘Operation Wild ‘N’ Out’, which they say included the arrests of dozens involved in the trafficking of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

Detectives investigating the case reportedly discovered communications over social media between Zinno and the victim in which they arranged the drug purchase. Zinno is said to have sold the victim the fentanyl on the same day he died. A witness was interviewed who, according to the VSO, was able to describe the manner in which Zinno packaged and labeled her drugs. Evidence collected at the scene of the death matched this witness’ description, detectives say.

Further evidence was gathered against Zinno when the VSO obtained text messages, social media communications, and cell phone data which allegedly corroborate the story that she sold the victim the drugs. Zinno was charged last year with the sale of fentanyl, conspiracy to traffick methamphetamine over 28 grams, and unlawful usage of a two-way communication device. She is now also charged with manslaughter.

Zinno’s initial arrest came on June 20th, 2024 when the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office brought her in on an out-of-county warrant. She was extradited to the Volusia County Branch Jail on June 28th, where she has remained ever since. She has one prior arrest in Flagler County for cocaine possession, and records show one instance of contempt of court in Volusia County. She is currently being held on no bond.
