A dozen residents applied for the vacant District 4 seat on the Palm Coast City Council in the allotted time agreed upon by the Council. The seat opened in August when Councilwoman Cathy Heighter resigned suddenly. The City Council discussed the feasibility of a special election but ultimately decided to appoint an interim member to the remaining two-plus years in office.
Multiple of the candidates have run for public office before. Darryl Boyer lost the GOP primary for the Florida House of Representatives this year, while John Scott McDonald filed to run for Palm Coast Mayor but dropped his bid before the qualifying deadline. Vincent Lyon, a former appointee to a Council seat in a previous vacancy, ran unsuccessfully for Flagler School Board in 2020. Charles Gambaro also ran for School Board, in the 2008 primary election.

no need to wonder because of course it is. Not to mention, there are also realtors that are in other department within city government.
