BUNNELL – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-year-old Michael Underwood Tuesday, charged with cocaine possession among other things. Underwood has an extensive history of felony offenses in Flagler County dating back to 2007.

According to the FCSO, Underwood was pulled over at around 11:00 am on Tuesday for traffic violations near CR-325 in Bunnell. The responding deputies reportedly smelled cannabis from Underwood’s vehicle, leading them to conduct a probably cause search. He’s said to have informed deputies that he did not possess a medical marijuana card.

The search turned up .43 grams of cocaine and .34 grams of methylone, both of which were identified in a field test. Underwood was arrested then and there for possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. While in the back of the cop car, Underwood reportedly pulled another bag of cocaine and methylone from his rear end and scattered it onto the car floor. Deputies are said to have caught this on camera, leading to him being charged with two counts of evidence tampering.

Underwood was booked into the county jail on $20,500 bond, which he posted the following day. He’s been booked on drug charges five other times in Flagler County prior to this instance, in addition to a litany of other felony and misdemeanor bookings along the way.

Beyond that, Underwood has also served multiple jail and prison sentences for charges such as armed home invasion, cocaine sale, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Underwood had not been arrested in Flagler County since 2018 prior to this latest arrest.

With an extensive history of FELONY offenses why is this guy out on the streets? Hopefully this time he will be locked up for a long time.

Oops I spoke to soon before doing a search. He posted hi 20,500.00 bond within 24 hrs. So he’s back on the streets doing what he does.

I remember a guy in Bunnell years ago go arrested for drug selling and I saw him about 6 months later and said they caught you ha. He said (and I quote) “Maaan, it was just chump change for my bond.” So apparently drug selling gives you a lot of money so you can bail yourself out within hours of being arrested. What a great system. NOT!
