Two men are dead in a murder-suicide in Palm Coast’s B Section, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on Bronson Lane shortly after 2:00 a.m.

The shooter has been identified as 34-year-old Jerome Curry. The other victim was identified as 28-year-old Andrew Yoder. Both men were Palm Coast residents, the FCSO says. Their relationship to one another is currently unclear. A woman and a preteen child were also inside the home when the shooting occurred, but both escaped without injury.

Curry was said to have taken his own life immediately after stepping out of the home to be confronted by deputies. He gave no indication that he intended to cause harm to the deputies, and there wasn’t time for return fire or a standoff of any kind. Curry was pronounced dead after being hospitalized, while Yoder was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.

FCSO Chief Deputy Joseph Barile delivered a media update at 6:30 a.m. near the scene of the shooting, and a more comprehensive briefing and Q&A later in the day at the FCSO Operations Center. Many of the specifics remain unclear, and some of the victims’ information will remain confidential by law. Yoder and the woman in the home appeared to have been friends without a romantic relationship, Barile said.

Chief Deputy Barile did provide some background on Curry. He has no criminal charges prior to Tuesday, and he reportedly shares a child with the woman who was inside the home. There have reportedly been multiple instances where the FCSO encountered Curry dating back to 2023, but none that were violent in nature. Curry was taken into the custody of a Baker Act on August 13 due to statements of self harm following a breakup in April 2026.

Deputies were called to the same residence Monday evening, just over two hours before the shooting. They were told that Curry entered uninvited and left before law enforcement arrived. A search ensued, but deputies were unable to locate Curry before things took a turn for the worse.

“Our prayers go out to the families affected by this shooting, which resulted in the senseless death of two people. This is a horrific and tragic incident for everyone involved. Being angry or in a mental health crisis does not give anyone the right to take someone else’s life,” said Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly. “After a series of violent domestic incidents last week, I had just emphasized that domestic violence has no place in our community must stop before it escalates and results in a death like we sadly saw early this morning. It’s well known that high risk for violence persists long after the initial relationship split. There is an elevated risk for increased violence up to two years following the break-up.”
