Greg Feldman is one of three candidates running for the Flagler County Commission’s District 2 seat. The current seat-holder, Greg Hansen, is not running for re-election. Feldman’s opponents are Theresa Carli Pontieri and Raymond Royer. Pontieri and Feldman are running as Republicans while Royer is filed as an Independent candidate.
The 2026 primary election is on Tuesday, August 18. Flagler County voters will be able to vote for the District 2 and District 4 seats. Because multiple party affiliations are on the District 2 ballot, only registered Republican voters can vote between Pontieri and Feldman in the primary election.
The top candidate in the Republican primary will move on to the general election on November 3. Their name will appear on the ballot next to Royer’s.

1) Do you believe your national political views are relevant to Flagler County voters? If so, explain what you hope those beliefs will communicate to residents about what kind of commissioner you’d be.
“Not really. As the saying goes, all politics is local. It is much more important for me to base my decisions and observations on what directly affects the citizens and businesses of Flagler County.”
2) What personal qualities do you possess that you believe would make you effective in forming consensus in a group with diverse viewpoints and philosophies?
“I have the ability to listen to all points of view without judgement and make decisions based on information and not emotion. If I feel personally passionate about a concept, I will express that and work to convince fellow commissioners on behalf of my position/belief while formulating discussion inclusive of their opinions.”
3) What should be Flagler County’s immediate budgetary priorities if Amendment 3 passes in November, effectively phasing out most local property taxes in Florida?
“As required, public safety is number one. Infrastructure projects such as flood control and roadway maintenance are also specified. It will then be the administration’s responsibility to recommend to the commission those actions needed to adjust the budget and staffing to accommodate the reduction in ad valorem revenue.”
4) What is your stance on potential moratoriums on data centers in Flagler County?
“In my opinion, too little is known about the environmental and utility implications of data centers on small to midsize communities. There are more questions than answers to these questions so I support it as a temporary measure until more informed decisions can be made.”
5) With consideration for your previous answer, how selective can Flagler County afford to be as it strives to expand commercial tax revenue?
“Economic diversification is crucial to Flagler County, where 83% of the ad valorum tax revenue is residentially based. However, commercial and light industrial development should respect the character of the county. Is it the right fit? Will it bring undo burden without solution? Will the business/industry provide significant employment to residents and stimulate the economy of existing merchants and businesses? Economic development efforts should be centered on entities that address these questions in a positive manner.”
6) Flagler County Commissioners are not bound by any term limits. If not compelled, do you believe in voluntarily relinquishing a seat after a certain number of years? How long would you serve in office if it were up to you?
“Yes. The Florida Legislature, by voter referendum, is limited to 8 years of service in each body. If allowed, I would serve a similar maximum.”
7) Name one issue you feel is not getting the attention it deserves from Flagler County officials and/or media, and why you feel it’s important.
“I believe that our roadways are over capacity and signalization is not coordinated between jurisdictions. We need to more aggressively pursue funding for solutions through more grants and aid, ensure that revenue received is properly appropriated to existing problems and projects while holding increased traffic causes to be accountable for assistance in improvements.”
8) Describe a time you made a mistake in your professional career, and what steps you took to remedy the situation and learn from the error.
“Decades ago, as a law enforcement executive, I created a program based upon a specific Supreme Court decisions which, when implemented, caused significant backlash due to inconvenience caused to the general public. I adjusted the program procedures to reduce this circumstance leading to an increase in public support. The biggest lesson was to examine more closely unintended consequences.”
